This course will trace the history of our country’s graying population, addressing the changing demographics and perceptions within and outside of the senior community. Challenges facing the elderly and issues related to retiring baby boomers, and how these impact upon shared-interest communities, boards of directors and association members will be discussed, and traditional and nontraditional approaches will be outlined. Learners will be provided with specific ideas outlining how to address this issue proactively, as well as respond to specific situations as they arise.
In this course, we will cover:
- The history and changing demographics of our country's senior population
- How these changes have affected communities
- Traditional and nontraditional approaches to "aging in place"
- Options and opportunities for boards of directors and community association managers
