Hugo Alvarez on Cuban-American Relations in the Daily Business Review

Hugo Alvarez, shareholder in our Miami office, was published by the DBR in a July 21 op-ed titled “Doing Little, Trump Does Much Harm to Cuban-American Relationship.

As the title suggests, Hugo commented on the economic and social ramifications that President Trump’s policies – travel restrictions and business regulations in particular – are having on the two countries’ relations with one another.

Small businesses and entrepreneurship will continue to take a hit, Hugo writes, using the pre-Trump Airbnb boom as an example. Under the new administration’s policies, travel restrictions are having a ripple effect that hurts private businesses like Airbnb, driving more consumer dollars to state-controlled hotels.
